A student may fail a course for several reasons. The chart below indicates the way a failed grade is recorded on the transcript, the credits received, as well as the impact on the GPA, and other possible consequences as it relates to the cause of the failure.

Grade reductions for courses in which a "pass" has been assigned

Grade reductions resulting from excessive absences or unexcused absences will be applied to courses for which a "pass" has been assigned. The "pass" will be converted to a 2.5 and the adjustment will be made to that grade. Individual faculty members may elect to deviate from this policy and assign a lower or higher grade to replace the "pass."
