Post high school Torah studies programs to visit NYHS. During November Rabbi Fox will meet with senior women to discuss options for continuing Torah studies after high school. After the initial meeting, students are invited to schedule individual meetings with Rabbi Fox to discuss specific options. We anticipate that the deadline for applications to most women’s programs in Israel will be at the end of November and the beginning of December.

Other announcements:
Students must sign-up now for Spring crew. Since Spring, 2001, Northwest Yeshiva has been fortunate to be able to offer a Crew program for its students. The Pocock Rowing Center on Lake Union is the only rowing center in Seattle that will accommodate the special needs of our school. Over the past three years, our Crew program turnout has been greatly diminished by two factors: 1) First, we can’t go late afternoon as we had previously. We have to go from 6:15-7:45 on weekdays so many parents and students balk; 2) Second, the track program has been extremely successful and with a small school body, many would-be crew people have been drawn away. The Pocock Rowing Center contacted us recently saying that we would need a minimum of 10 to make the program work financially. Last year, we had 7. Also, a typical crew boat has 8 rowers and a coxswain. Thus having at least 10 is crucial to the program’s success. The Pocock Rowing Center given us until 11/15 to recruit the minimum number. Otherwise, we will have to discontinue the program for this year. If your child is planning to take Crew, the dates are 3/6 to 4/29. In order to secure this program, we need a check for $350 made out to NYHS and we need it in our possession no later than November 15th. To secure your spot, please have your child put a check in my box or send it to NYHS, Attention: Jed Davis. In the event that we do not have adequate numbers by November 15th, your check will be returned. If you have any questions, please call Dr. Davis at (206) 295-1212.
Student Attendance now available to students through NYHS website. Students can now access their attendance records on-line. Thanks to the efforts of Jerry Liebermann, we have successfully integrated online access to attendance data into the school’s website. Simply go to www.nyhs.net, select Parents or Students, then select “Student Attendance”. You will then be prompted to log in. Once you have logged in, you will be redirected to our Powerschool attendance portal with your user information already entered.
