Admissions

Northwest Yeshiva High School is an independent, college preparatory, dual curriculum Jewish high school.

To apply, contact
Rabbi Yona Margolese for an application package.
The Seattle Times "School Guide" shows an analysis of how well NYHS students do at the University of Washington.

We are proud of our students and alumni.  Virtually all our alumni continue their studies at 4 year universities.  They have continued their education at selective colleges here and abroad such as:  Barnard, Boston University, Columbia, Brandeis, Tufts, U. Penn, Princeton, Washington Univ. in St. Louis, Tulane, Yeshiva University, Stern College,Cornell, McGill, Touro and Smith to name a few.  Many of our students spend the year before college in Israel studying and/or travelling.

We are most proud of the fact that our alumni show a strong commitment to Israel, the Jewish people and the communities in which they live.  They are our Jewish future.

Admissions Guidelines
Each student considered for admission will be evaluated individually using a combination of the following criteria:
  • Properly completed registration portfolio.
  • Middle School (and high school if applicable) GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • References from principal, teachers, etc.
  • Interview with student and parents.
  • Student statement of personal goals with regard to Northwest Yeshiva High School curricula.
  • Optional competency tests.

Non-Discrimination Policy
Northwest Yeshiva High School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic or other school-administered programs.
International Students
Please direct student visa inquiries to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. J-visas require a sponsoring organization, such as a foreign student exchange program. F- visas require a sponsoring individual, usually a relative. In the case of an F-visa, note that the school will issue Form 1-20 only when the student has completed all registration requirements and received an acceptance letter.
Second Semester Admission
Registration - An application for the second semester is regarded as a late registration. As such, the application is subject to the highest applicable registration fee. The only exceptions made are cases in which the application could not possibly have been made at an earlier date - e.g. a sudden family relocation.
A family that completes a planned relocation just prior to second semester does not qualify for any discount. The family is advised to meet standard application deadlines even though the student will not join the program until the second semester.
Tuition - Tuition is not prorated or discounted. Students attending for second semester only are required to pay the entire annual tuition.
Acceptance - Space availability may determine the number of second semester acceptances. In the event that the student is not accepted because of space considerations, NYHS will credit the application fees paid toward the coming year and refund the balance paid above the lowest registration rate.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition for the year 2010-11 is $13,500.   Additionally, there is an annual Student Activity fee of $95, a Security Assessment fee of $100, and a Capital Fund fee of $1000 ($250 per year) for new students. This fee applies to families of students joining NYHS as freshmen or at some other juncture. Participants in NYHS interscholastic sports programs are responsible for related fees. These fees are not included in tuition.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available for those families who require a reduction of their tuition.  Financial aid applications are processed after the registration form and registration fee have been received.  Please click FAST to begin the financial aid process.  If you have questions regarding the process or would like more information, please contact Patrick Young, our business manager at 206-232-5272 ext. 517.
